Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient method of treatment originated in China. It has not changed its character and form for about 2 thousand years. An acupuncture procedure involves the penetration of specific superficial anatomic locations on the skin called acupuncture points, by thin, solid, metallic needles or by means of Chinese herbs, acupressure procedures, Chinese massage (Tui Na) or cups. Among the examined mechanisms of acupuncture is neurophisiological and humoral effect. Some influence of hormonal system has also been documented. Acupuncture influences most basic mechanisms of homeostasia and organism regulation.
